Employers Must: Below 80dB: Reduce the risk of hearing damage to the lowest levels reasonably practicable.
Employers Must: First Action Level 80dB: Reduce the risk of hearing damage to the lowest levels reasonably practicable; Ensure noise assessments are carried out by a competent person; Ensure a record of assessments are kept until re-assessment; Provide necessary training, instruction and information on risks to hearing and how to minimise them and how to obtain ear protectors when required; Ensure ear protection is a. provided to employees who ask for them; d. Are kept and maintained to a satisfactory standard.
Employers Must: Second Action Level 85dB: Reduce the risk of hearing damage to the lowest levels reasonably practicable; Ensure noise assessments are carried out by a competent person; Ensure a record of assessments are kept until re-assessment; Use means other than ear defenders to reduce exposure to noise; Provide necessary training, instruction and information on risks to hearing and how to minimise them and how to obtain ear protectors when required; So far as reasonably practicable place notices and warning signs in ear protection areas; Provide hearing checks where noise assessments indicate a risk of hearing damage; Ensure ear protection is: b. Provided to all those who are exposed; c. Are used by those exposed; d. Are kept and maintained to a satisfactory standard; Ensure ear protection is used by all those who enter ear protection areas.
Employees Must: First Action Level 80dB: Use all other protective equipment provided; Report any faults or defects found with ear protectors or equipment.
Employees Must: Second Action Level 85dB: Use the ear protection provided; Use all other protective equipment provided; Report any faults or defects found with the ear protectors or equipment.
